Luke 1:55-57

⁵⁵as he promised^[a] to our ancestors,^[b] to Abraham and to his descendants^[c] forever.”

⁵⁶So^[d] Mary stayed with Elizabeth^[e] about three months^[f] and then returned to her home.

⁵⁷Now the time came^[g] for Elizabeth to have her baby,^[h] and she gave birth to a son.

Luke 1:55 tn Grk “as he spoke.” Since this is a reference to the covenant to Abraham, ἐλάλησεν (elalēsen) can be translated in context “as he promised.” God keeps his word.
